games about writing!
Clicking on Run this game will make the random cursor game run in a new window or tab.
Last Summer, I started working on electronic literature projects - from poetry on a torus to designing a poetic esoteric programming language, to an Italo Calvino game jam!
One of these ideas stuck with me: could we use games to make tools for writers? More specifically, could we make games to augment the act of writing?
These three games are exploring this idea. The games can be played on Glitch, Here is a walkthrough each one, with a link to the game on Glitch:
- random cursor is all about making typing a performance act. you are invited to type... and the cursor keeps moving as a way to prompt you to make non-linear changes to the story.
- racing circuit is about going fast, before you lose your idea! the game is a loop between a text area that freezes from time to time, and a text area to which the text typed by you is saved to.
- fibonacci interpreter is trying to reinvent what it means to interpret a (programming) language by curating your work - according to the fibonacci sequence.
I will be giving a online workshop this week-end (Sunday Nov 1st, 2020) on these ideas! You are invited :)
